This oil painting is an abstract expression of my deep memory of the Chinese Spring Festival in the 1980s. In that era, the Spring Festival was always filled with a strong festive atmosphere and endless joy. I am trying to convey that unique memory and emotion to every viewer through this painting.
The screen is dominated by warm tones, with the interweaving of orange and red, as if taking us back to that warm and vibrant era. The orange red lanterns hanging above, with golden decorations in the middle, not only symbolize the joy of festivals, but also carry people's good wishes for the new year. The lantern swayed in the air, forming a sharp contrast with the blurry figures below, as if telling the hustle and bustle of that era.
In the center of the screen, a large red paper stands out prominently. The "Day 3456T89 Day 15" printed on it may be a record of a specific scene or moment in that era. Although the specific content is no longer clear, the ambiguity and vagueness in that memory add even more mystery to the picture.
I use abstract artistic techniques to intentionally blur or smear some details, in order to express my vague memories of the Spring Festival of that era. I hope that through this oil painting, the audience can feel the unique charm of the Chinese Spring Festival in the 1980s, the warm, festive and slightly mysterious emotion. This painting is not only my nostalgia for that time, but also a tribute to that era.
